PokerStars rakeback is paid through Stars Rewards, a chest system tied to the rake you pay. Each chest returns a fixed share of that rake, starting at 15% on the Blue chest and reaching 65% on the invitation-only Select levels for high-volume players.

How PokerStars rakeback works

Stars Rewards turns rake into points and points into chests:

  1. You earn 100 Rewards Points for every $1 of rake.
  2. When the points bar fills, you receive a chest. Its colour depends on your current level.
  3. The chest pays out a share of the rake that filled it, from 15% to 40% on the standard levels.

Chest rewards used to be random. PokerStars removed the randomness, so each chest now returns a fixed value for its level.

Keeping your level

A level drops if you go 28 days without earning a chest. Regular players who open at least one chest every four weeks keep their colour; a player who takes a month off restarts lower.

    How to get rakeback on PokerStars

    1. Play real money cash games or tournaments on the international PokerStars client. Stars Rewards is active for every account.
    2. Watch the Rewards bar in the lobby. Each time it fills, a chest is added.
    3. Open chests from the Rewards section; the reward is credited to your account.
    4. Earn at least one chest every 28 days to avoid dropping a level.
